In the darkness of that October night the heavy -laden vines were about to be stripped of their fruit. Lit only by the moon and the bright lights on the pickers’ hats, the crew worked swiftly with clippers and buckets harvesting each and every cluster of ripened dark grapes before the dawn’s early light appeared. Lively music cheered them on and there was a joyous celebratory feeling in the air that another fruitful growing season had culminated. All the repetitive vineyard work, pruning and care had paid off. A promise of beautiful wine was made and something exciting was about to begin.
This magical annual ritual happens each fall and as always, within four or five hours the grapes were whisked away to their next home at the winery.
Upon arrival there, the fruit is soon moved into large vats. From that moment on the natural fermentation process of wine-making begins. The yeasts start working to reduce the sugar in the fruit and transform it into alcohol. Once in the barrel, regular checks follow the development process as the wine magically transforms.
Our QUAIL RUN stays in the barrels for at least 22 months. Careful decisions about barrels, next steps and timing are made to achieve
the most natural expression of the vineyard that season.

Almost two years later, the wine is bottled, labeled and then it is laid down to rest in the wine cellar. The 2022 wine was bottled late last summer. Since then, it has been patiently waiting to be released. Now, after one year in the bottle, it is ready to savor and it is so wonderful! I can’t wait for you to taste this carefully crafted gift from nature.

Véraison season! 🍇
Things are heating up at Keating Vineyard! 🔥 Véraison has occured, a key milestone where grapes start changing color and ripening. It's the moment the vine transitions from growth to fruit maturation, with berries softening and sugar levels rising. We’re on the countdown to harvest—typically 40 to 60 days from now! 🍇
